The reserves managed a 5-1 win over lowly Newport Pagnell Town on Tuesday evening, after playing a first half in which the visitors carried more threat than the Woods. With a lot of passes going astray and niggling fouls being conceded, the Woods had Mark Britt to thank for making a couple of good saves early on. And it was Newport Pagnell who went ahead in the 25th minute, surprisingly, from a Northwood corner. The ball was cleared swiftly upfield and Kwase Nxumalo swept the ball past  the advancing Britt.

Only three minutes elapsed before the Woods equalised, Jake O'Meara being the quickest to react in the Newport goalmouth and lift the ball over the keeper. Woods were forced into an early substitution on 40 minutes when an injury forced off Jerome Cole, to be replaced by the 6'6" Gambian Pa Gai. He nearly got on the scoresheet before half-time, but put his header wide of the upright.

A productive half-time team-talk brought the best out of Northwood in the second period. The pitch was not conducive to playing good football, but the Woods on occasions tried to. Two good efforts from Pa Gai in the 49th and 51st minutes were beaten out, but at the other end Mark Britt had to make a good save to stop the visitors from going ahead again.

The front three for Northwood were combining well and debutant Nathan Hilaire sent in a cross which was flicked on by Gai, and Jake O'Meara drove home to give the Woods the lead. Laurie Walters succumbed to injury and was replaced by Max Duffy  in the 56th minute. Another fine cross from Hilaire led to Woods’ third goal when Dwain Williams, returning to Northwood, only had to tap the ball in.

Five minutes later Man of the Match Hilaire had an easy tap-in from a right wing corner to make it 4-1. Newport Pagnell were still threatening on the break ,but in the 73rd minute Luke Lynam, who had replaced the injured O'Meara, put through a beautiful ball for Pa Gai to run onto and complete the scoring.
